What Does Security Testing Cost in India?
There is no honest single price for security testing, and anyone who quotes you one before understanding what you run is guessing. A brochure website and a payment platform are different jobs, and treating them as one number overcharges one of them and misleads the other.
This page explains what actually determines the price, so you can compare VAPT vendors without getting misled. The short version: cost follows work, and the work follows your scope.
What Decides the Price
The Cheapest Option Is Not the Cheapest
Free and cheap scans have a place, and a real assessment usually starts with automated tools. But a scan is a checklist: it matches your application against known problems. It cannot tell you whether an attacker can actually change a price, open someone else's invoice, or reach your admin panel.
Professional testing is the difference between a list of possibilities and proof of what actually works, with evidence and fix guidance behind each finding. Vendors who sell a scan under the name of a penetration test are a known problem; our guide on scanners explains how to tell the difference. You can also judge for yourself: see what a real report looks like.
VAPT: One Umbrella, Two Kinds of Work
VAPT is the term most buyers use, and it covers two jobs that cost differently. A vulnerability assessment is a structured health check: broad, automated plus manual verification, faster and lighter on cost. A penetration test goes further: a tester actively exploits the weaknesses to prove what could actually happen, which takes more tester time.
Not sure which one applies to you? What is VAPT? explains both halves in plain language.
